Frequently Asked Questions

How much do I have to pay on the first visit if I have insurance?

Every insurance plan out there is different, yours could even be different from your co-worker’s plan because it depends on the option you chose from what your employer offers.

The best way to know is by calling us at 972-424-2225, we can call your insurance and find out your benefits, once we do that, we can let you know a closer estimate of your cost.

To find out your coverage, we just need your name, date of birth, your insurance ID number, your group number, and the customer/provider service phone number on the back of the card.

It usually takes a few minutes and you will get a call back from us with more detailed information to know the approximate cost of your initial visit.

Can I schedule an appointment if I don’t have insurance?

Of course, anybody can be seen, even without insurance, we are a very diversified practice and accept all those patients who need chiropractic care.

Is chiropractic care covered by insurance?

Yes! Most insurance plans cover chiropractic care as long as it is medically necessary.

These are some of the insurances that currently cover chiropractic services: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), United Healthcare (UHC), UMR, All Savers, AARP, GEHA, Cigna, Molina Healthcare, Scott & White, Medicare, Medicaid, TriWest, Humana, WellMed.

Is Dr. Fulcher in-network with my insurance?

Dr. Garland Grant Fulcher and Dr. Jaclyn Fulcher are in-network with most major medical insurances: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), United Healthcare (UHC), UMR, All Savers, Molina Healthcare, Scott & White, Medicare, Medicaid, and TriWest.

Some companies are smaller branches and are still in-network. If your insurance company is not listed above, please call 972-424-2225 and we will find out if we are in-network or if you have out-of-network chiropractic coverage.

Do I need a referral from my primary doctor to see a chiropractor?

PCP or MD referrals are not usually required for most insurances, but if you have an HMO plan a referral will most likely be required. Sometimes medical doctors can refer to a chiropractor without the need for an appointment. Call us at 972-424-2225 and we will be happy to help you find out if you need it or not.

Does this office bill insurance directly or does the patient need to submit the claims?

We always deal directly with the insurance to save you the trouble. We submit the claims to your insurance typically the next day after services are provided.

Do you have payment plans?

Yes, we do. On your second visit, once the doctor has made a treatment recommendation, we will show you the different payment options, and payment plans are available too!

What can chiropractic help with other than my back, like arms or legs?

Chiropractic, sometimes combined with physical therapy and nutrition, has a very high success rate fixing the following conditions, without the need for surgery or harmful prescription meds.

Headaches, migraines, vertigo

Shoulders, rotator cuff

Tennis elbow

Carpal Tunnel

Finger pain, trigger finger

Neuropathy

Radiculopathy

Rib pain

Knee pain

Hip pain

Ankle pain/strain

Plantar fasciitis

Sprain/strains of the different muscles, IT band/hips is a very common one that we treat quite often here.

If I was in an auto accident, do I need to hire an attorney before seeing the chiropractor?

No, it is not necessary to hire an attorney before you seek medical care from a chiropractor after having an accident, weather it is an auto accident or a fall. But if you already hired an attorney, we can accept your case.

Call us at 972-424-2225 if you have specific questions about your case.

What do I need to bring on my first visit?

Bring your identification and insurance card if we are billing it. The intake forms are electronic, so you won’t need to print them out. If you have had x-rays or MRIs, feel free to bring them or the written reports, we will add them to your file. Payment is expected at the time of service on the initial visit.

What can be expected on the initial visit?

Once you complete your electronic intake forms from home (which take about 15-20 minutes), plan on being here for about an hour on your first visit, we will review your medical history and your chief complaint (area of pain), do the consultation, answer any questions you may have, do a neurological and orthopedic exam, take x-rays if needed, and in most cases you will get an adjustment (treatment) on the initial visit too.

What can be expected on the second visit and there after?

If there are x-rays to go over, we will go over the findings with you, explain any treatment recommendations, answer all your questions, and go over cost of care and payment options. There is no charge to do that!

Any follow up appointments will include any treatment agreed upon by the patient and the doctor.

Do you take x-rays in-office?

Yes, we do, and x-rays are developed the same day, then the doctor studies them and writes an x-ray report, we also upload them to your chart, so the doctor sees them every time you see him.

What is an adjustment?

An adjustment, also called chiropractic manipulation, is the technique performed by the chiropractor to take pressure of the nerves when they are pinched, it is done by gently moving the bones and muscles to put them into their normal position; therefore, restoring the brain’s communication ability to properly control/heal the body and restore muscle control and balance through the nervous system, which gets to the cause of pain, inflammation, and osteoarthritis (the most common being in the back and weight bearing joints, like hips and knees).

Adjusting your body is like rotating the tires in a car so the tread does not wear out, giving your joints much more longevity.

Another analogy- think of your brain’s communication to the body, as the electricity in the house going to the light bulb.

Can I get adjusted without the “popping” sound or twisting the neck?

Yes, a common way of doing this is by the activator technique, SOT Blocks, or a Thompson Drop Table, depending on what the patient wants, the level of osteoporosis, surgeries, etc.

Can chiropractic care help all ages?

Yes, we see all ages, from newborns to the elderly.

We treat the little ones who can’t nurse very well or are leaning to walk, to the active teenager or those with bad posture, the adult who works 8+ hours a day, and the active or disabled retiree.

Everybody can benefit from chiropractic to alleviate pain, increase mobility, and improve posture, function, and performance.

Does the adjustment hurt?

There’s no reason to hurt through an adjustment. The adjustment is to help you reduce the pain you already have.

There is a chance of soreness after the first 1 to 3 visits, but most patients don’t experience that and if it happens it is simply the body’s response to the change it’s going through, like when you get sore after working out once for the first time or after a while of not working out.

If you come in on your initial visit with a lot of pain, there could be some tenderness during the adjustment, but the doctor uses gentle techniques to minimize it- in most cases you feel better afterwards.

Can I get adjusted if I had back surgery?

In most cases yes. Certainly, the bones that are above and below the surgery can be adjusted; the actual area depends on the type of surgery. This is always discussed on day 1 and taken very seriously. Even if your particular surgery permits adjustment, you can elect not to receive treatment there if you desire.

X-rays are necessary to ensure safety of the procedure. Not all therapies can be performed, it is determined on a case by case scenario.

Hablan español?

Si claro! Todas las asistentes del doctor hablan español y le pueden ayudar a traducir o llenar formularios en sus visitas. El doctor Fulcher también habla un poquito de español básico. 😊
